Offerings of the Day

  • April 13 – GEMS Girls’ Club: Devoted to bringing the Good News of Jesus to girls around the world. The mission of GEMS Girls’ Clubs is to help bring girls into a living, dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ. Their vision is to see girls around the world actively and enthusiastically expressing love for God and others—girls equipped, motivated, and passionately engaged in living out their faith.  We thank Emily Teusink, Courtney Kingshott, Lauren Paquin, Brittany Bean, Sue Milkamp, Amanda Muskovin, Ali Regan for taking on this role here at Calvin Church.
  • April 20 – Western Michigan Christian Schools.
  • April 27 – THRIVE Safe Church Ministry: April is CAP month (Child Abuse Prevention) in the U.S. In recognition of this, the safe church specialists at Thrive want to make note of some resources they offer to be supportive of families and help churches in preventing child abuse and neglect as well as taking positive action to promote child and family well-being.  Please support the work of Thrive as they seek to inspire congregations and address abuse in ways that seek justice and healing for all those who have been impacted.

Unspecified offering donations will be placed in the General Fund.

 

Please take a moment to fill out a Connection Card if you… are new to Calvin; would like more information on a ministry; have a prayer concern.  Connection Cards are located in your pew or at the Info Center (by the kitchen).  Then, place it in the offering plate.  Thank you!

 

During Lent we have all been encouraged to take on a new challenge each week.  These challenges are focused on Mission & Outreach.  See the insert for our final Lent Challenge for Holy Week.

 

Children in Worship is for children 4 years old – 5th grade.  We meet downstairs in the Education hallway.  Our Classrooms open at 9:50 AM.  Parents, please bring your child(ren) downstairs to sign them in each week.  After church is over, come downstairs to pick them up or you may give us permission on the sign-up sheet to send them upstairs.

 

Spring Life Groups…  Sign up today!  It’s time to begin our new venture with Life Groups!  There are 4 groups to choose from this spring.  Which one interests you?  See the sign-up sheets by the elevator.  If you have questions, seek out the group leader or a staff member.

 

Hearts & Hands will meet in the Fireside Room tomorrow at 1:00 PM.  We invite all who would like to be a part of this ministry to join us for the meeting, dessert and fellowship.

 

You are invited to our Maundy Thursday Service on Thursday, April 17th at 6:00 PM.  Come and share in Communion as we remember the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf.  This worship service is for the entire family.  All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate.  NO nursery available.  Praying the Lord’s blessings are upon you during this Holy Week.

 

Join us for Easter Breakfast next Sunday, April 20th, 8:30 – 9:45 AM.  There will be many wonderful items to enjoy.  Come, fellowship with your Calvin family early Easter morning.  Hosted by the Fellowship Team

 

Attention Widows & Single Ladies: We will meet for Lunch at the Whitlow’s Forerunner (4610 Airline Rd, Muskegon, MI 49444) on Friday, April 25th at noon.  Please RSVP to Mary Lane 231-798-3545 by Tuesday, April 22nd.  Hope you can join us!

 

Our next informal meeting will be on Sunday, April 27th, following worship.  The focus of this meeting will be seating in the Sanctuary.  Pastor Mark, Pastor Brian, & Bill Sorensen, Council President will be available.  It is our desire that we remain united in Christ as we go through this process.

 

Our sanctuary is equipped with an Induction Loop Assistive Listening System.  To utilize, switch your hearing aid, cochlear implant, or tactile device to “T” (Telephone) or contact your provider for assistance.

Attention Men:  You have an open invitation to join us for breakfast/prayer at Russ’ Restaurant on Henry St. on Thursday mornings at 8:00 AM as we pray for the needs of the congregation while enjoying Christian fellowship and a wonderful breakfast.

Moment of Thanks…

   Thank you for the thoughts, prayers, cards and words of comfort and encouragement in the loss of my brother Danny. It has helped so much during a very sad time. Calvin Church is a blessing to us.

Opportunities to Serve…

          Hearts & Hands has placed 12 Easter Bags in the Narthex for our Special Friends (Homebound).  Once again, we’re asking for your help to fill them.  Bags will be delivered during the week of Easter.  Thanks <3

 

Do you have a flower garden?  Would you like to help beautify our Sanctuary during the spring and summer months?  We are looking for one large bouquet for each Sunday.  If you are interested in sharing the beauty from your garden, there is a sign-up sheet available at the Info Center.  See Maryann Wolffis or Vickie Curtis if you have questions.

 

The Deacons are requesting your help with collecting much-needed personal hygiene items for Western Michigan Adult/Teen Challenge students.  Items are needed for the men’s and women’s centers.  Donations will be accepted through Sunday, April 27th.  List of items needed are in your bulletin and at the Info Center.  Thank you for supporting Adult/Teen Challenge and showing their students, they are valued and loved.
