A sincere greeting to each of you!
We are pleased to have you join us in praising God, learning God’s plan for life, and sharing our voices, talents, and friendship in worship and fellowship. You are always welcome here at Calvin Christian Reformed Church.
‘Love the Lord your God with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. (Matthew 22:37–40)
Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.’ (Matthew 28:18–20)
These statements of Jesus provide us with five over-riding purposes of the church:
- Love the Lord your God
- Love your neighbor as yourself
- Go and make disciples
- Baptizing them
- Teaching them to obey
We believe that to be a biblically sound and healthy church these five purposes must be balanced. No single purpose or purposes can be over-emphasized to the detriment of others. We need to be equally committed to fulfilling all five of these tasks.
